Name: Aristides(Means "Finest" or "Best form")
Race: Minotaur
Age: 37
Gender: Male
Occupation: Warrior Commander
Rank: Reconciler General
Appearance:
He is a truly imposing person, standing at 7' 9" and weighing 657lbs. His fur is long and black, with the beard being somewhat curly. His horns are an off-white and curve forward for better goring of foes, which is aided by the steel tips on them.
Personality: His will is unbreakable, and his resolve is like the strongest steel. He lives by the blade and intends to die by it, but not while injustices prevail, as he is ruled by a strict moral code and honor. He is passionate about his position and incredibly responsible.
His dutiful nature and no nonsense attitude can make him a bit of a spoilsport, even if he means well enough. While very by the book, he will very rarely bend the rules if he must, like if regulations prohibit him from doing something that would save someone.
When on the battle field his a fierce and unforgiving foe, any mistake you make could be your last. But when presiding as Judge, he is compassionate and fair, though trying to deceive him will inflame his usually buried wrath. The main reason he gets up in the morning and participates in worldly affairs is because he genuinely cares, about his family, his people, his allies and neighbors.
Strengths:
Indomitable strength and will power: Aristides was, as a Soldier, forged in the fires of war. His physical strength is vast, and his resolve and will is unbreakable. Torture him, mutilate him, slowly dismember him, you cannot break him, and Gods help if you try and fail to contain him.
Strategic genius: Having been a Soldier for many years, and having participated in dozens of battles, he has learned what it takes to do things on the battlefield from the standpoint of a frontline fighter, which has given him better insight into commanding units. He also had the benefit of being able to study old records and accounts of battles long since passed, so he knows the failings of others and has learned from their mistakes.
Weaknesses:
Infallibly Just: Aristides will not compromise his morals for any reason, even for personal safety. If the Ruler of a Kingdom was doing something unjust, and if Aristides spoke against him he would be struck down, Aristides would still speak against him even if it meant he would die.
Guilt Burdened: His is burdened with extreme guilt for his the part he played in the Elven Crusades, even though the High Elves left no other option, he cannot reconcile his deeds. This makes him extremely uncomfortable around any of the extant Elven races, and can lend him towards leniency with them, something highly irregular for him to do.
Self Righteous: To cope with everything he has done in War, and due to his upbringing, he is self righteous. Whatever cause he is pledged to is obviously righteous and worthwhile, and the opposing parties are obviously in error. This has led to him being manipulated in the past, unbeknownst to him.
Equipment: He wields a large double headed steel battleaxe, and wears a full set of steel armor(Helmet(fits over his horns), Gauntlets, Chestplate, Greaves, Pauldrons).
Mounts/Guardians/Pets: He(like all Minotaurs) requires no mount, as they can move as fast as a horse on their own two feet, with a far greater endurance. He does however keep a crow, used to send and receive messages. Aristides is rather fond of him and has named him Quicksilver.
NPCs: Two Minotaur Bailiffs serve as... well... Bailiffs to deal with any wrong doers found out by Aristides, while he is also the Commander of a Legion.
Biography: Aristides was born into a small, but well known Kine in the capitol city(the only real city of the Minotaurs, the rest being outposts and fortresses), the son of a Councilman who served under the High King. From a very young age Aristides was taught the value of honor and justice, and strove to live by these morals set before him by his father and forefathers.
Unlike his father however, he desired to actively fight for what he believed in, not only legally but also physically, and used his fathers influence to find himself a combat trainer in addition to his teacher in the arts of law. He began his training at the age of six, and spent most of his days either studying legal text books or sparring with his trainer. While he was not a Warrior himself, Aristides' Father allowed this as it was a Noble and Honorable path for any Minotaur to take.
While the other children were out playing, Aristides was inside presenting fictional cases to his law school teacher, or being clobbered by his combat trainer(a retired soldier of the High Kings' Legion). It was lonely, of course, but Aristides resigned himself fully to the cause of Justice and forged a will of iron from his seemingly joyless life.
He enlisted in the Horned Legion at the age of fifteen, and fought in the Elven Crusades by the age of Sixteen(he was deployed while fifteen, but only reached the front lines a month after his date of birth). He excelled in battle, his superb training and ceaseless dedication paying off fully. He'd never killed anyone before his first day on the battlefield. His first kill was a young(presumably) High Elf who charged him headlong with an overlarge sword, which Aristides snapped like a twig before crushing the Elf's neck in one gargantuan hand.
He continued to combat the High Elves for the next four years, rising through the ranks gradually over the course of many hard fought battles. He however was there for the end of the Elven Crusades, and he, himself, struck down what appeared to be the last High Elf with a Crossbow bolt to the forehead. While their eradication was necessary, it did not stop Aristides from being burdened with the immense guilt of the extinction of an entire species.
As horrible as the Elven Crusade was, the Lycan War was a thousand times worse, and started as soon as the other had ended. Aristides could not grieve or pray for forgiveness while War was threatening his allies and people. He took up his blade once more, though with an Elite Task Force this time, as the High King would not pledge his entire people to a new conflict so soon after the previous one ended. So Aristides went, without the Horned Legion, to wage war against the Lycans.
Given Aristides was working extremely closely with the Humans during the War, he saw the horrors the Humans suffered first hand. He witnessed so many unfortunate souls fall victim to the Lycan virus, and had to put down hundreds of infected soldiers when the Humans' resolve was too weak to carry out the task. For the honor he brought to the Minotaurs over the course of the four year war, Aristides gained a much higher rank, renown, influence, and wealth, as well as a seat on the High Kings' Council alongside his exceedingly proud Father who had been an adviser to the King for years prior.
In more recent years, with the threat of these "Orcs" growing as their foolish Human allies encroach upon these creatures territory, Aristides asked to be reinstated into the Military, now holding the rank of Reconciler General, Judge and Commander of a Legion of War ready Minotaurs.

Aristides strode through the stone halls with confidence unmatched and the determination of a Man on a Mission. His flowing stole-like sash swept back with the breeze generated by his mighty stride, the golden embroidery of his achievements shining brightly in the fading afternoon light against the light purple of the cloth they were on.
He lifted his huge arms and placed his open palms in the air directly in front of himself as he passed two Minotaur Guardsmens, who saluted with a lone open palm, each of their other hands grasping a steel halberd.
He passed into the Council chamber unencumbered, a small nod from the other Council members and the High King as he moved to take his seat beside the King, Aristides own Father sat on his right with the King to Aristides' left. The King raised both his hands, palms open, to silence the Councilmen and gain their collective attention.
"Councilmen, we have gathered here today for a particular reason of which I believe we all know," the High King said heavily, letting the statement sit for a long moment before continuing "There is a new threat, and it lies to the far East, to this new continent the Humans have found"
"And why does this concern us? We have always been allied with the Humans, this only serves to make trade more profitable, and give us an entirely new world to colonize" one of the Councilmen on the far side of the chamber stated.
"It concerns us because our allies have settled this continent, they control nearly the entire Western coast there!" Aristides' Father said, before Aristides calmed him and stood to speak for his agitated Father.
"As my Father has stated, the Humans have colonized the Western coast of this Eastern Continent, reports from the colonization have shown extreme resistance from the natives, both these... Orcs, and the creatures called Gnolls" Aristides said, letting the two newly discovered species' names sink in.
"Is it wise, or even honorable to continue this endeavor? We are all sustained here in Arrellia, must we encroach upon our new found neighbors across the sea? Should we even be consorting with the Humans when they are invading the lands of others?" Aristides said.
"Of course we should!" another Councilman said, "we can only gain from this endeavor! What harm is there if the Humans sate their blood lust on these creatures? They are savages, the lot of them!" the Councilman declared.
"And what of the North?" another Councilman interjected to counter the previous speak. "The Dark Elves and Lycans are stirring again, reports from our border scouts report that the Wood Elves and our Cousin Kine the Satyrs are skirmishing with them both! And what are the Humans doing? Terrorizing some cave dwellers across the sea! They should be focusing on stability, on consolidating their power and dealing with the after math of their wars on Arrellia, not on foreign conquest!" the Councilman said.
"Aye, he's right! Not only do they threaten their own lively hoods, they threaten ours as well! What makes our two nations strong? Our allies! And what happens if one of our nations goes to war? We back the other! But how are we supposed to fight four battles at once?" This Councilman said "We cannot fight the Lycans, Dark Elves, Orcs and Gnolls all at once! Even if the Humans are fighting one continents' battles, we are left with the others', and cannot hope to prevail against two armies by ourselves" he concluded.
There was a long pause as the High King thought on the matter, while the various Councilmen conversed amongst themselves. After a long time, the High King turned to Aristides. "What do you think Aristides? Besides your opening comment, you have been rather quiet" the King said.
"I agree," Aristides began "that this colonization is unwise, but unavoidable now that the Humans have began using their coastal ports. What we need is...." Aristides said, with a deep sigh "a new Legion" he concluded, causing a great stir amongst the Councilmen, and even elicited a startled look from the King.
"It has been more than an Age since last we forged a new Legion! Why should we take such a drastic measure now of all times? Have our extant Legions ever failed us before?" an Elder Councilman said, which was responded to with a resounding 'nay!' in response to the question of their Legions' strength.
"Do you forget, we are on the brink of war! We only have three Legions, we couldn't hope to win two, three, even four wars with just those proud Soldiers" Aristides' Father said.
"Aristides is right" the High King declared with two raised fist, signifying he had finalized his decision. "We need a new Legion to deal with the rising threats we are faced with, our existing Legions are filled with our finest Veterans, but our new generation needs a Legion it can be comprised of, and we need to get younger Soldiers in every Legion"
"With this new Legion, we can retire our Elder Soldiers, reassign our younger veterans into fresh commands, and start this generation on the path of Honor. I want these changes instated by the end of the Month, and I want our new Legion ready by then"
"Aristides, since you are one of our most celebrate Warriors, having seen War beyond measure, I ask you to lead this new Legion" the High King concluded, causing many a great shock at the Kings request. It was well known that Aristides, while a brilliant strategist and master of the blade, wished to never see War again as long as he lived.
Aristides had been standing when the King asked him to lead this new Legion, but now stood over the table with his arms rigidly supporting him. He sighed before raising his head and straightening.
"As you Command, my King".
