Minotaur Culture: The Minotaurs are a proud, noble, and charitable species. They are the fiercest warriors one could hope to fight alongside(and pray not to go up against), and pride themselves on this fact.
Honor: There are two aspects fundamental to mainstream Minotaur society, the first and most important is honor. Minotaurs gain honor from many things, combat being only one(though a rather respected form of honor). For example, a Minotaur can gain honor through helping to build a school, or aiding an elder in their travels, or by defending those unable to defend themselves.
To lose honor is horrible, and can lead to many unsavory things. If it is severe, it can result in banishment or even execution. Those who are wholly lacking honor are considered a blight to Minotaur society, unholy even to some. These (debatably)fell Minotaur are hunted down before they are either killed if giving resistance, or taken to face trial for their sins.
A fair trial is always given, as anything less would be dishonorable. This seeming moral purity makes Minotaurs practically impervious to corruption, which often ends with them being used as mediators, as everyone knows “A Minotaur can be trusted”.
Religion: The most prevalent and widely accepted religion amongst the Minotaurs is the worship of the Sun. Due to the Sun's importance to the environment, and the fact it sustains life, is the primary reason it is viewed as a deity. The fact it can kill and seemingly pass judgement is the other.
Common sayings related to the sun include:
-"By the Sun!"(exclamation)
-"May the Sun watch over you"(farewell/good luck)
-"Sun burn you!"(ill wishing/cursing)
-"Everyone must face the light some time"(everyone dies/you'll have to face your deeds and maker)
-"Sun test us, water relieve us"
-"Even the Sun must rest"(generally said when the Sun is setting)
-"Even at night, the Sun is with us"(due to them believing/knowing the moonlight is a reflection of the sun)
-"Sun cast your light upon me"(Equivalent: God help me)
The Two Factions: There is a distinct division amongst the Minotaurs, the cultured and civil Minotaurs of the Empire, and the wild and ferocious Fell Minotaurs. They hate each other, unfortunately. The Imperial Minotaur hate the Fell Minotaur because they think them honorless, as many(but not all) of them are. The Fell Minotaur hate the Imperial Minotaur because they persecute them and act as if they are better than them.
While the Humans are strong allies with the Imperial Minotaur, they make little distinction between the Imperials and the Fell. Both are allowed to live alongside them, which has caused a small amount of trouble from the Imperial Council. The Imperials have been completely barred from pursuing the Fell while they're in Human territory, which has caused many of the Fell to live alongside Humans for safety.
