Name: Askari Bone-Bleeder(Askari means "Warrior")
Race: Spotted Gnoll
Age: 34
Gender: Female
Occupation: Matriarch of the Bone-Bleeder Clan.
Rank: Regent Matriarch
Appearance: She is a large Gnoll, standing at 6'7", and is well muscled from years of fierce combat and hard labor. Her fur is mostly a bright orange with more of a yellow running down the sides of her neck. Her eyes are light brown, giving off the feeling of a individual who is fierce and wizened. A large scar runs across her snout, starting at the inner corner of her right eye and wrapping diagonally over his snout to just forward of the corner of her mouth.
She wears layered plate armor on her torso to allow for flexibility, and wears a mantle of skulls on her back that raises a few feet above her head. Three skulls adorn it, an Orcs', a Gnolls', and a Humans' skull.
Personality: Askari is a strong, independent, and fierce person, all of which is reflected in her personality. She is stubborn, and often refuses to cede in matters for it, even more so in conflicts. She is utmost defensive about her Dominion, and will nothing and no one threaten it and her Clans people.
In combat she is unrelenting and will use whatever she can to win, no matter how unfair or dirty it might seem to others. She is also cruel in this regard, and wont let a good twist of her blade go undone if she can help it. Nothing quite so nice as the sound of a screaming death.
While she is ferocious with her subordinates and adversaries, she is loving and supportive to her family, mostly with her children, mates, and parents. She cares relatively little for her siblings, and generally less so for their children.
Strengths:
A skilled and experienced leader: Askari was the daughter of two of the lowest ranking Gnolls of the Bone-Bleeder Clan, and rose to the top after returning from her service in the Grand Gnoll army, killing the current Matriarch, her consort, and all of here daughters. She has since lead the Clan for more than two decades.
A skilled and experienced warrior and Soldier: As a Spotted Gnoll she is a Warrior, but as a retired Officer of the Grand Gnoll Army she is a Soldier as well, and has been trained as thus. She spent six years in the Military, and so many more as Regent Matriarch of the Bone-Bleeder Dominion, fighting tooth and claw for her Clan and title.
Powerful: Askari is very, very powerful physically, mentally, militarily, and politically. She rules one of the largest of the nine Gnoll Dominions, and has the ear of the Grand Matriarch, who in turn has the ear of the Gnoll Queen.
Weaknesses:
Illiterate: Due to having been from a lowly classed family originally, Askari did not have access to a higher education and cannot read or write. She could never admit it before out of fear of ridicule, and now out of fear for her weakness being exploited in her powerful position.
Old Injury: Askari injured her dominant hand in battle years ago, which hasn't put her in tip top condition for battle(though she's still better than most). This puts her at a disadvantage compared to her children, but gives her a convenient excuse not sign things that would show her illiteracy.
Paranoid: Askari has become increasingly paranoid, for a multitude of reasons. Firstly, she isn't as capable as her own offspring, and given the role her predecessors children played in the demise of their mother, Askari distrusts her own children even though she loves them dearly. Secondly, since nearly all of her children were born to her after rise to ruler, they had the education she did not, and so are more capable in that area as well, increasing her distrust of them.
Equipment: She carries a halberd, a flail, a short sword, and a plethora of small knives hidden on her person.
Mounts/Guardians/Pets: Askari rides an Entelodont, a truly terrifying beast, even for its already terrifying species.
NPCs: She has four guards, two spotted Gnolls, a Striped Gnoll, and a Crocuta Gnoll. She also has an Aard-Gnoll that carries any loot she might acquire, and carries and uses Askari's crossbow.
Biography: Askari was born into the Bone-Bleeder Clan to two of the lowest ranking Gnolls, a hunter and a leather worker, and so inherited their low rank. She was tormented by the higher classed cubs, and even though she fought back was always outnumbered since her fellow low rankers were cowards when it came to the higher classed children.
When the Gnoll Queen called for new Soldiers from all the Clans, the current Matriarch hand picked those of the Bone-Bleeder Clan to be shipped off to join the Grand Gnoll Army. Askari was among them. To avoid meager taxes, the Matriarch sent more Gnolls than were required, and even sent Cubs like Askari.
Being torn from her home, Askari was terrified of her possible fate as she was lead on a march across the hot Savannahs with many strangers who had also been sold off like slaves to appease the Gnoll Queen now that she needed Soldiers, apparently some Gnoll ships had ran into a new kind of creature which were heading for the Western coast.
The trip from Bone-Bleeder territory to the Gnoll capitol was arduous, many of them died, from dehydration, starvation, predation, and even by the Taskmasters' cudgel. But when Askari and the others arrived at the capitol and were put into training, it was nothing like she had imagined.
There were no predetermined social classes, only ranks and efficiency mattered. She took out her vengence on the other Gnolls drafted from her Clan, but only on those who had tormented her so cruelly, not a single one of them survived basic training. This pleased her Instructor, who hadn't seen someone so viciously determined in quite some time.
Askari trained well, and was first deployed with a group of fellow freshly trained soldiers against a rouge band of Orcs ravaging the Bone-Bleeder Dominion from which Askari first came from. She and her band of fellows quickly put down the small band of Orcs, but what Askari saw when they passed through her native Clan's territory shocked and disgusted her. The lands had gone to dust, and the once wide spread of Gnoll dens and markets was no more. Askari vowed she would kill the Matriarch for this, but still had several years of her service yet to fulfill.
In these years of bloodshed for the Queen, Askari took her first mate, Tevar Skull Crusher, whom she met during her third engagement and had him transferred under her command once she was promoted.
